Kenani Housing Company

Kenani Housing Company (Kenani) is a project company established by Urbanis Africa, an affordable housing development company, and its partners in order to build affordable housing in a suburb of Nairobi. The Company has secured an option to purchase 230 Acres inLukenya, nearAthi River, located 37 kilometres south east of Nairobi.

Kenani intends to develop a comprehensive social housing and low middle incomehousing estate which will constitute of a total 2400 units and other support amenities. The houses will then be sold to target customers for own occupation or otherwise investment.

Upon completion, the estate will comprise of a total of 579 three and four bedroom maisonettes each on a 1/16 acre piece of land, 624 two and three bedroom flats, and 1200 two and three roomed social housing flats.

 

 
 
 



The estate will also include a pre primary school, a modern commercial centre (to house banks, shops and supermarkets, pharmacies etc), sports facilities and social amenities such as places of worship, medical facilities etc.

The estate will be developed in a maximum of five (5) years at a total cost of Kshs 7 billion. The working capital needs can be funded with local borrowing. An equity injection of Kshs 460 million will be required in order to acquire the land and meet the initial costs, including early stages of construction. This cost will however be staggered over the first year of the project. Cost of acquiring land will be Kshs 250 million.

The housing units will be sold at a price range of Kshs3.5 million and 7.2 million for medium income units and Kshs 1.5 million to 2million for low income, social housing units.
